The process of announcing the diagnosis of cancer includes four specific phases of explanation and discussion about the illness and its treatments in order to provide the patient with relevant, progressive and respectful information:
Dr Assouline in a special medical consultation
This first phase sets aside time to provide medical information regarding the diagnosis and the proposed treatment.
You can be accompanied by a member of your family or a friend during this consultation. It is during this consultation that the doctor will explain the proposed treatment which has been decided during the Multidisciplinary Team Meetings (MDTMs) in accordance with the surgical report, the anatomopathological report and various complementary examinations.
This second phase enables the patient, family and friends, to complete the medical information already received, to find out about his/her rights and also discover more about the associations that can provide help and support. This consultation is carried out by a nurse or radiotherapy technician, according to the treatments to be carried out.
This third phase offers support through a variety of caring treatments:

At each stage of your treatment, the Centre’s doctor will send your data to your GP.
This liaison work forms a pledge of safety for treatment continuity. Setting up this coordination is essential and must be done right from the start when requesting full reimbursement of your treatments by the GP (ALD: long-term illness).
